Every week I will bring you nail art! Thursdays used to be Fail Art Thursday, but hopefully I'll have less "fail" here! I'm going to do this series (for as long as I can), with nail art inspired by books! The covers of books specifically. I hope to be able to do this EVERY week - and I'm going to try my hardest to make this a weekly feature - there are SO many books I can utilize :)
Today's featured book is one that I got in a book swap, and put off reading for a long time - Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake. But once I started reading it, I was hooked. I had to get the sequel as quickly as possible. I really want there to be more to this story, but alas, it is only a duo. The cover is so spooky!
For this mani I used polishes that were all purchased or swapped for by me. Essence Nail Art Twin Romeo, OPI Vampire State Building, Wet n Wild Black Creme and Wet n Wild Spoiled Correction Tape. For the designs I used a piece of plastic wrap and a cosmetic sponge.
I started with a base of Romeo, and I used Correction Tape and Black Creme to make dots all over the nail. Once I did that, I used a balled-up piece of the plastic wrap to dab around the nail. The effect is really cool! I love how it turned out. It's all smokey.
Once that dried, I needed to add the swaths of blood in various spots on the cover. I just took Vampire State Building and did a quick swipe on a cosmetic sponge, and then I dabbed it a few places around my nails.
I am super impressed with what I did here. haha I think it's definitely my favorite of this year. I wore it for about 4 days before I took it off, and I got lots of compliments on it. It reminds me of rock... or granite. Not just swirly, but really textured!
So what do you guys think? I am really looking forward to what I can accomplish by continuing this feature! Is there a book you'd like to see me attempt nail art inspired by? I'll gladly take suggestions! I can even get the book checked out from the library if need be ;)
